Pre-school

Fundraising

This is always an important part of our work and we thank parents for supporting us. We are currently raising funds for new outside equipment such as a play house, weatherproof toys and wall murals.

One of the ways you can help to raise funds is through your orders for The Gift Company, Digiprint Christmas Cards, www.easy2name.com, Little Urchins photos and Yellow Moon. We also collect supermarket vouchers for schools.

Please see the parent information table for more information or speak to Julie.

Mission

EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE BEST POSSIBLE START IN LIFE AND SUPPORT TO FULFIL THEIR POTENTIAL. A CHILD'S EXPERIENCE IN THE EARLY YEARS HAS A MAJOR IMPACT ON THEIR FUTURE LIFE CHANCES.

Burnham Pre-School is based in the Burnham-on-Crouch Village Hall (also known as The Carnival Hall) and provides early years services from age two to under five years for the local community and surrounding areas.

We are Ofsted registered and active members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and operate according to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

Our objectives are:

  • to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where parents are welcome to become involved in their child's progress;
  • to work within a framework to ensure equality of opportunity for all children and their families; and
  • to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making positive contribution and achieving economic well being.

"The setting is effective in meeting the needs of all children in its care, with children supported as individuals and according to their unique needs. Children are able to make good progress in their learning and development, with opportunities to develop in most areas of learning provided on a daily basis."
- Ofsted EYR Inspection Report, 11 November 2009

"Very good use is made of the space available to provide children with clear areas in which to enjoy different types of play and learning, as well as allowing staff to group children according to age in order to provide them with developmentally appropriate toys and activities."
- Ofsted EYR Inspection Report, 11 November 2009

Our Charitable Status

TAs a charitable childcare setting we strongly encourage the involvement of parents to help with the day to day running of our Pre-School, organising fundraising and social events and with the management of the Pre-School. Burnham Pre-School is managed by a committee of volunteers, who together form the trustees of the charity and the ‘registered person’ with Ofsted.

Our committee members are:

Marcus Collingbourne, Secretary
Karen Sword-Brace, Treasurer
Carina Makela
Neillian Fowler
Kelly Marshall

Anna Slatter

If you have a couple of hours to spare a month to get involved in running the Pre-School then our parent committee needs you! Please speak to either Teresa or Julie for more information.
