Burnham Preschool was established by a group of parents in 1965. It moved to its present premises, The Carnival Hall, in 1966.

Preschool is an ideal way to start your child's education; at Burnham Preschool we follow 'Every Child Matters' and 'Early Learning Foundation Stages 3 - 5 Years', which help your children learn creative and social skills, needed to give them the confidence to progress. Our qualified and caring staff provide individual, as well as organised group activities, using specialist equipment and materials which include: paint, glue, water, play dough and sand, construction, technology and large and small musical items, table tennis, books and various role-play settings. Help with basic writing, counting, colour and shape recognition is given to every child on an individual basis. A work sheet will be completed for each child, following a structured syllabus.

Attendance can be from one to five mornings a week, to suit individual requirements. Children can start from the age of 2 years and will attend sessions in the smaller of our two halls - moving into the larger hall at around the age of 3 years 6 months.

Burnham Preschool is a member of the Preschool Learning Alliance, with a charity status, and is run by a parent and staff management committee. We are registered with and inspected by OFSTED which enables children, when eligible, to be funded by Essex County Council (this includes the 3 and 4 year olds).
